About Us

Founded by Edward Fletcher and Eve Gabereau in 2002, Soda Pictures is renowned for it's eclectic catalogue of independent and world cinema, releasing films in the UK for Directors such as Francis Ford Coppola, Werner Herzog, Mike Leigh, Abbas Kiarostami, Kelly Reichardt, Michael Winterbottom and many more.

Boasting a catalogue of festival favourites, vintage classics and award winners - recent releases have included Norwegian Wood, Meek's Cutoff, Barbara, Bullhead and Woody Allen: A Documentary.

Soda pride themselves on releasing challenging films, with a particular focus on independent children's titles and a commitment to new British Cinema.

Edward Fletcher

Edward Fletcher: Image

Co-founder and Managing Director of Soda Pictures, Edward previously managed the distribution operation of the Institute of Contemporary Arts, ICA Projects, as well as managing cinemas in Cambridge and London. Edward has a M.A. in Film and Television Studies from Westminster University and a B.A. in Sociology from Goldsmith’s college, London.

Eve Gabereau

Eve Gabereau: Image

Eve Gabereau is the co-Managing Director of Soda Pictures, a London-based independent distribution and programming company.

Prior to setting up Soda Pictures, Gabereau worked in International Relations and Cultural Affairs in Japan, China, the US and Canada. She also worked as a journalist and is published in The Guardian, The Independent and Time Out, as well as has appeared on the BBC’s DVD Collection, on CTV and CBC in Canada and on Fuji TV and Radio Japan in Japan.

She has a BA in Political Science from McGill University and an MA in Communications and East Asian Studies.

Frances Harvey

Frances Harvey is the Acquisitions & Content Manager for Soda Pictures. Frances joined the company in 2005 and has previously worked at the BFI and Edinburgh International Film Festival. She has a BA in Scriptwriting from Bournemouth University.

Faith Taylor

Faith Taylor: Image

Faith is the Communications Manager for Soda Pictures. She joined the company in 2008 having completing an MSc in Film Business from Cass Business School.

Nathan Gilligan

Nathan joined Soda Pictures in May 2012 after spending ten years at the coal face of cinema exhibition as a film programmer, first with UCI Cinemas then until recently Odeon Cinemas. As a result of his time on ‘the other side’, Nathan has gained a wealth of experience and knowledge of the UK cinema business which is invaluable in his new role here at Soda Pictures as Theatrical Sales Manager. Nathan’s key responsibility is to develop and implement innovative sales strategies for our theatrical releases. However, when he isn’t one the phone or deep in thought, Nathan is also the unofficial office DJ, suppling the team with inspirational tracks from the likes of Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley.

Fiona Fletcher
Projects & Sales Executive
Fiona Fletcher: Image

Fiona is Projects & Sales Executive at Soda Pictures, working across Soda’s alternative distribution initiatives such as New British Cinema Quarterly and specialised projects. She manages non-theatrical sales and print transport. Fiona was previously manager of the Branchage Film Festival. She has produced arts commissions and live film events, has extensive experience in film festivals and has worked as a film PA. She has a degree in Sociology.

Varun Kanish

After completing an MA at Royal Holloway for Screenwriting, Varun waded through paper-work at Hollywood Classics; cut his teeth on various short film productions; perfected the industry smile at the BFI London Film Festival 2010 and joined Soda – where his mystical computer healing powers have saved many a corrupted word document from the brink of certain death.

He has just completed his first crowd-funded short film project, LEFTOVERS, which he wrote and co-directed. Keen to collaborate with more emerging and passionate filmmakers, he is furiously penning more small tales for the international film festival circuit.

James Flower
Operations Co-ordinator
James Flower: Image

After receiving his B.A. in Scriptwriting from Bournemouth Media School, he managed film festival/exhibition projects at Signals Media Arts, Colchester, as well as handling various production/editing duties and teaching workshops there. In 2011, he completed the prestigious Film Archiving M.A. at the University Of East Anglia (earning a first), receiving hands-on training at the BFI National Archive and East Anglian Film Archive.

James has also directed a short film, Possum (2010), and a music video (both available to view at www.vimeo.com/jamesflower). He currently curates a popular monthly cult film night in London named Savage Cinema (www.twitter.com/savagecinemauk), which has been highlighted in Time Out and recently had filmmaker/playwright Philip Ridley as a guest of honour. He watches respectable arthouse cinema by day, and cheesy B-movies by night.

Oliver Boxell

Oliver Boxell: Image

Oliver is the Finance Officer for Soda Pictures. He joined the company after completing institute of certified bookkeeping qualifications in manual and computerised bookkeeping. Mixing his background experience of corporate IT and accounting, He is looking forward to facing the daily challenges of film distribution.
