Continuing in our quest to bring the finest in independent and world cinema to a wider audience, Soda Pictures have teamed up with Genesis Cinema to bring you Soda Stream, a two month run of selected titles from the Soda Pictures archive to be screened in Whitechapel’s iconic, independent Genesis cinema.
Soda Pictures and Genesis cinema are proud to bring you Soda Stream.
A season of the very best in independent cinema from around the globe.
The season will provide you with an opportunity to catch up on films you may have missed as well as discovering new cinematic gems. From Central America through Uruguay, past Mexico and on to Turkey, Germany and France. Soda Stream will take you on an unforgettable cinematic journey. Each screening will be introduced by an industry professional and there will be an opportunity to discuss and debate the film in the bar afterward.
The first season will run from Wednesday October 7th, kicking off with Kelly Reichardt’s poetic Wendy and Lucy starring Michelle Williams and will conclude with an exclusive, secret, preview screening.
Screenings will start at 18:30 and tickets will cost £4.

Having just seen the post over on the Guardian blog today celebrating Mike Leigh’s Naked as one of the most under-rated British films that is unavailable on DVD - we thought we’d take the time to quickly highlight that thankfully Naked will be available soon (I’m told April 7th-ish) as part of a general re-issue of Film 4’s back catalogue (similar to the recent Ken Loach box set), the box set includes other Leigh titles currently not available on DVD (including Bleak Moments- c/o Soda Pictures’ ‘Soda Vintage’ label). I personally will be taking the opportunity to see the film that Ben Myers writes is ” it is Mike Leigh’s finest work and arguably the best British film in recent history”. (more…)
