Drawing Restraint 9 ()

Synopsis

Exploring the notion of creativity and resistance, Drawing Restraint 9 takes place in Nagasaki Bay on board the Japanese whaling ship Nisshin Maru. The vessel transports a vast sculpture made of petroleum jelly entitled The Field, which is molded, poured, bisected and reformed

throughout the film. Observing this process, are the two main characters, The Occidental Guests, played by Matthew Barney and Bj?rk. Dressed in elaborate Shinto-inspired costumes they take part in opulent rituals and finally embrace in a climax of violence, sensuality and metamorphosis.
